Apple releases Mac OS X 10.5.5

During the night Apple released the update maintenance Mac OS X 10.5.5 for the operating system “Leopard” sheltering numerous incidents and implements many security updates.

This update was made available both through the automated update system software implemented in the operating system or through the support page on the Apple website. There are versions “Delta” and “Combo” respectively for the upgrade from 10.5.4 and the upgrade from earlier versions of Leopard. In the first case, the package will be downloaded to 312MB, while the latter will have a weight of 601MB.

According to the release notes, available in English for consultation at this address, the update also resolves a number of problems with the MacBook Air laptop, by implementing the patch released a few weeks ago and adding a non-refined to improve management sharing of the optical remote. Among the other applications and services affected include the update iCal, Disk Utility, Address Book, texEdit and Active Directory.

The Mela has also issued a small security update for Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger”, marked by the letters 2008-006, which also makes available to users of the operating system of the previous generation security patches implemented in 10.5.5. In this case the update is available, in the PPC version (67MB) and x86 (157MB) via Software Update or from the support page from Apple.
