Matrox Graphics has announced the availability of Extiende F1240, the new model of Remote Graphics Unit (RGU), which allows to separate the system from devices and PCs, using a fiber optic connection, enabling it to operate at a distance of 250 meters from the host computer with one or two displays, audio, two FireWire IEEE 1394, up to 6 USB devices, such as keyboard and mouse.
The new model Extiende F1240 is capable of supporting up to two 30-inch monitor with a resolution of 2560×1600. The device is equipped with both digital DVI connections, both analogue 15-pin. Among other possibilities, there are six ports USB 2.0 and an integrated sound system that handles both digital and analog connections for microphones, speakers and input / output lines.
Extiende F1240 connects to the main system via a PCI or PCI-Express and comes with drivers for Microsoft operating systems Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows XP 64-bit, both for the video, is for that sound. Drivers for Windows Vista are available online.

Extiende F1240 will be available on the market short, at a price not yet announced.
